Making knowledge sharing a priority means stating very clearly that this training takes precedent over other tasks your employees have on their plates. One of the best ways to get employees to exchange insight and share knowledge is to seek feedback and ask questions. Ask employees for help, and solicit their opinions and expertise. Share projects you’re working on, and tell people what you’re doing and why. Invite others to work with you, even if it is a small contribution.
Furthermore, a focus on the level of the situation has allowed wisdom researchers to develop a fuller understanding of the role of context itself for producing wisdom. Specifically, studies showed evidence of cross-cultural and within-cultural variability and systematic variability in reasoning wisely across contexts and in daily life.
The primary difference between the two words is that wisdom involves a healthy dose of perspective and the ability to make sound judgments about a subject while knowledge is simply knowing. Anyone can become knowledgeable about a subject by reading, researching, and memorizing facts. It’s wisdom, however, that requires more understanding and the ability to determine which facts are relevant in certain situations.
Wisdom takes knowledge and applies it with discernment based on experience, evaluation, and lessons learned. Unless you have a lot of people with a generous amount of time on their hands, the time your employees spend training their colleges will come at the expense of something else.
